Either you're in a good spot to catch the fish or you aren't, and your success hinges entirely on that preperation. I think the issue is that there is very little margin for error. But "learning" these thrall patterns might not be fun for the player! My hope was that players would learn these patterns and lure fish to a safe area (or entirely out of the caves) before hooking them. The way I conceptualize it is this: Most of the fish in the caves have fairly predictable thrall patterns. This isn't an issue for classic mode, and I'm not TOO concerned with an additional challenge in the very late game for realism players. Without a bulbfish in (or near) his mouth? I'm this close but a pile of frustration from actually getting deep sea sonar. Not a bug I don't think, but my quests are asking for a moga (ugggh), bombats (which have the rock issue, the snagging issue, and keep getting eaten when I'm trying to bring them up due to being a small size fish), and bagus (which show up whenever I don't want to see them and vanish when I do). The swordfish doesn't really fight back, I realize it's because you're paralyzing it with the pufferfish but it also says large fish can shrug off the effects. I just caught stormy in broad daylight, though it was the day after a storm.Ĭatching a rock on the seafloor (to prepare for bombats) counts as a failed cast and causes reeling in if scouting isn't equipped, despite it being the intended means of catching bombats. It's also making catching cave fish really really hard since there are limited means of preventing them from slamming themselves into the floor or roof of a cave. On top of that, fish that you lose by snagging on terrain (especially when they decide to drive your hook into the rocks and you have no means to free it) seem to glitch out and stay where you snapped the line instead of going back to their normal patrols. Snagging the hook on terrain is a massive source of frustration. It disregards bulbfish bait while it does this. The Maw seems to occasionally glitch out and stay in one place, flipping over endlessly. Still loving the new stuff! Here's some things I noticed,
